It is my great pleasure to welcome you to the 2013 summer edition of Lake Field Music camp. I’m thrilled to share with you an exciting program that includes the return of popular courses and many of our beloved faculty members from years past, as well as some new additions that I am sure you will enjoy. If you are a past participant returning for another summer in beautiful Lakefield, welcome back! I look forward to greeting you in person this August as we spend another wonderful week making music together. Canadian violinist Mary-Elizabeth Brown has delighted audiences around the world and earned accolades for her “ability to unfold bittersweet magic” (Rhein Main Presse) and for her “perfect command of her instrument” (Florsheim Zeitung). In addition to her current post as Concertmaster of Sinfonia Toronto, she is in demand as guest leader, chamber musician and soloist, and has led orchestras under the batons of noted conductors Kryszstof Penderecki, Lorin Maazel, Helmuth Rilling and Placido Domingo. She has given concerts at the Festival Campos do Jordao (Brazil), Mozarteum Uruguay, The White House, Indian River Festival, Elora Festival and Banff Summer Arts Festival, and has recorded for Cambria Records, EMI, and Marquis. Mary-Elizabeth holds degrees from the University of Toronto and l’Université de Montreal where she received the Prix d’Excellence en Interpretation in 2006. Her passion for teaching has taken her to the Aldeburgh Young Musicians Program, the Neojiba Project (Brasil), and Sembrano Talentos project in Montevideo. Mary-Elizabeth is the camp's Music Director and is teaching Upper Strings Technique, conducting the Strings Ensemble and coaching a Chamber Group. |
